The French and European financial sectors weathered the storm, demonstrating remarkable resilience and underscoring the strengths of Europe’s supervisory model, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. This resilience is also due to robust European and Basel regulations. In 2023, European co-legislators wound up their negotiations on the CRR3/CRD6 banking package, which transposes Basel III rules, and on the ambitious Solvency II review. Other major regulatory advances were achieved in anti-money laundering, new technologies and climate risk.
