Role and missions of the Secretary General

The Secretary General is appointed by the Minister for the Economy following a proposal from the President, and tasked with running the ACPR's departments and reporting to the Supervisory College (Link to the french version). The Secretary General is authorised to incur expenditure not exceeding the limits set in the budget voted by the College.

The Order of 19 December 2022 from the Minister for the Economy and Finance appointed Nathalie Aufauvre as Secretary General of the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution. Her appointment took effect on 9 January 2023.

Deputy Secretary General of the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution appointed by the Chair of the ACPR. He is also Secretary General of the Comité Consultatif de la Législation et de la Réglementation Financières (CCLRF – the French Advisory Committee on Financial Legislation and Regulation) and provides support functions for the ACPR’s resolution college under the authority of the Chair.

Organisation of the ACPR’s departments

In addition to the ACPR units providing support functions (finance and budget, human resources and information technology), the General Secretariat also relies on operational departments, which are notably in charge of:

•    authorisations,
•    individual off-site and on-site inspections conducted at insurance undertakings and credit institutions,
•    the supervision of business practices,
•    the supervision of anti-money laundering mechanisms,
•    risk assessment and risk analysis,
•    international affairs,
•    legal affairs.
 

Two units have functional autonomy from the General Secretariat:
•    the Resolution Directorate, which works for the Resolution College,
•    the Secretariat of the Sanctions Committee.
